“Hong Kong Episodes” presents the unique charm of Hong Kong on a cinematic musical journey. Presented by a fine jazz quartet and 11 top chamber players from the Hong Kong Contemporary Music Group, the concert represents a refreshing jazz-classical cross-over with original music written collaboratively by jazz guitarist Teriver Cheung and composer Fung Lam, both Hongkongers, meld with evocative imagery by architect Anthony Lai to draw up four different “chapters” of this singular metropolis in the course of a virtual day: its cosmopolitan cityscape; fast-paced lifestyle; avenues for spiritual retreat; and colourful heritage and culture. The result is an amazing tapestry of original music and landscape visuals weaving a lasting impression of Hong Kong.
