Mr. Albert TANG assumed the position of Director, Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong on 26 May, 2014.
Mr. Tang joined the Hong Kong Government in 1982, and has since served in various government departments and policy bureaux, including the former Trade Department, former Industry Department, former Commerce Industry and Technology Bureau, and the Transport and Housing Bureau. Mr. Tang has worked extensively on trade, economic, and external affairs, including textiles export, inward investment promotion, WTO and APEC negotiations, air services, development of the Hong Kong International Airport, and air traffic rights negotiations. Mr. Tang had also served as Assistant Director General of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Washington D.C., and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative in Tokyo. Before taking up the current position, Mr. Tang was Principal Assistant Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs.
