GDETO organised “Seminar on Mainland Environmental Policy” in Guangzhou
Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), The Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong (CMA), and the PRD Council jointly organised a “Seminar on Mainland Environmental Policy” (the “Seminar”) in Guangzhou on 20 July (Thursday). Mr Albert TANG, Director of GDETO, delivered an opening remark, and Ms GE Yi, Deputy Director of Division of Pollutants Emission Control, Guangdong Environmental Protection Department (GDEP), introduced the latest development of waste discharge permit system in the Mainland. Two expert speakers from the subsidiary organizations of GDEP (Mr LI Wensheng, Senior Lecturer of Guangdong Environmental Protection Engineering Vocational College, and Mr WANG Gang, Professor Chief Engineer and Director of Institute of Environmental Policy Planning & Standard of Guangdong Academy of Environmental Science) briefed the audience on the top level design of the policy of the waste discharge permit system, how to apply waste discharge permit, and the requirements about daily environmental management. Heads of five relevant Divisions from GDEP attended the Q&A session and exchanged views with the trade representatives. The Seminar was attended by over 180 trade representatives.
